Early adopters

“Zinn Labs is developing the next generation of gaze tracking systems built on the unique capabilities of Prophesee’s Metavision event sensors. The new GenX320 sensor meets the demands of eye and gaze movements that change on millisecond timescales. Unlike traditional video-based gaze tracking pipelines, Zinn Labs is able to leverage the GenX320 sensor to track features of the eye with a fraction of the power and compute required for full-blown computer vision algorithms, bringing the footprint of the gaze tracking system below 20 mW. The small package size of the new sensor makes this the first time an event-based vision sensor can be applied to space-constrained head-mounted applications in AR/VR products. Zinn Labs is happy to be working with Prophesee and the GenX320 sensor as we move towards integrating this new sensor into upcoming customer projects.”

“Privacy continues to be one of the biggest consumer concerns when vision-based technology is used in our products such as DMS and TV services. Prophesee’s event-based Metavision technology enables us to take our ‘privacy by design’ principle to an even more secure level by allowing scene understanding without the need to have explicit visual representation of the scene.?By capturing only?changes in every pixel, rather than the entire scene as with traditional frame-based imaging sensors, our algorithms can derive knowledge to sense what is in the scene, without a detailed representation of it. We have developed a proof-of-concept demo that demonstrates DMS is fully possible using neuromorphic sensors. Using a 1MP neuromorphic sensor we can infer similar performance as an active NIR illumination 2MP vision sensor-based solution. Going forward, we focus on the GenX320 neuromorphic sensor that can be used in privacy sensitive smart devices to improve user experience.

DISCOVER HOW CAMBRIDGE CONSULTANTS IS PUSHING BOUNDARIES IN CELL THERAPY USING METAVISION TECHNOLOGIES

Josh Gibson, Senior Physicist at Cambridge Consultants and Luca Verre, CEO and co-founder of Prophesee talk about some of the major hurdles in cancer research and some of the ways Cambridge Consultants is tackling them

Imaging and Machine Vision Europe invited us and our Inventors Community partner Cambridge Consultants for an exclusive webinar.

In this webinar, Josh Gibson, senior physicist at Cambridge Consultants, presents a device they developed that automates sterility testing of cell therapy treatment using Prophesee’s event-based sensor. The PureSentry device is able to detect contamination in cell therapy batches in real time, compared to having to run a sterility test requiring a 7 to 14 day incubation period.

Meanwhile, Luca Verre gives an overview of Prophesee Metavision technology and its many applications.

We were very impressed that we could see T cells which are mostly water and typically quite hard to see under a normal microscope and without using special imaging techniques and E. coli which are represented differently under optical systems.

For machine learning, you can see the black border around the T cells and in this way the Prophesee camera does a form of edge detection in hardware so we can pick up the edges of our T cells to really see the morphology of them.

Josh Gibson

Senior Physicist, Cambridge Consultants

One of the really interesting things we see with the Prophesee camera which we have not seen with any imaging we have done with microsocopy here at Cambridge Consultants before is that you get the cartwheeling motion of the E.coli where they are rod shaped and as they flow through the chip at fairly high speeds, rather than travelling in a straight line they end up spinning around and you can see the rod rotation and that’s a nice way to tell apart the T cells and the E.coli that are flowing through.”?

High-speed counting with Event-based vision http://www.rfnf.cn/en/2022/07/05/high-speed-counting-with-event-based-vision-imago-prophesee/ Tue, 05 Jul 2022 15:07:44 +0000 /?p=75369

High-speed counting with Event-based Vision

Event Camera Vision Cam EB by Imago Technologies supports high-speed counting for transparent, low-contrast gel capsules?

Gel capsules falling from a vibratory feeder. ?They are counted at high-speed by a line scan camera.

Processing with line scan technology:

Gel capsules cannot be recognized as an object by the software in the transmitted light process and therefore cannot be counted.

One capsule can appear as two objects.

CHALLENGE

Transparent, yellow capsules are to be counted at high-speed falling from a vibrating chute. Previous image processing solutions with a line scan camera using the transmitted light method reached their limits.

The gel capsules could not be counted at high speeds due to the transparency of the capsules and the lack of contrast caused by the yellow color.

SOLUTION

The line scan camera with integrated real-time computer was replaced by the revolutionary event camera. Event-based image sensors record changes in a scene instead of capturing test objects line by line.

This means that Event-based algorithms can track objects even at very high speeds. The PSM module included in Metavision? Intelligence Software Suite was used as a starting point and fine-tuned to reach this solution.

Processing with event-based technology: Gel capsules can easily be recognized and counted.

BENEFITS

IMAGO’s Event-based camera counts moving objects at a throughput of 1,000 objects per second. The technology can be used to count a wide range of products, giving many industries a new competitive edge.

The processing of the data takes place in the smart camera itself. There is no longer a need for expensive high-performance computers for ultrafast counting.
